Winter Wellness: Hydrating at the office in the winter is very important

Dehydration can impair your mood, memory, and brain performance. In fact, some studies show that even mild dehydration can affect your overall brain function. By simply drinking enough water, you can avoid negative side effects like the inability to concentrate, headaches, anxiety, and fatigue.

How do you stay hydrated at work?

  • Be sure to replace the fluids you lost while working. Hydrating after work reduces the strain on your body from dehydration. Hydrating after work is even more important if you work in a hot environment on a regular basis.
  • Instead of depending on thirst, workers should drink cool water, 5 to 7 ounces, every 15 to 20 minutes. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water each day. Sports drinks (Gatorade or Powerade) are also good rehydration choices. Do not consume caffeinated drinks, such as coffee and colas.
  • Drinking at shorter intervals is more effective than drinking large amounts infrequently.
