As employees head out for well-deserved summer vacations, it’s important to keep health and safety in mind. Workers should be encouraged to consider all the safety tips we use daily at work while on vacation or travelling.
A little planning goes a long way in ensuring everyone enjoys their time off and comes back refreshed and ready to work safely.
Road Trip Safety
- Vehicle Maintenance: Get your car serviced before a long trip (oil change, tire pressure, fluids, lights).
- Emergency Kit: Always have a well-stocked emergency kit in your car:
- Cell phone and car charger
- First aid kit
- Flashlight
- Flares
- Jumper cables
- Non-perishable food and water
- Blankets
- Drive Safely:
- Focus on the road; avoid distracted driving (phone, eating, excessive chatting).
- Take regular breaks on long drives to combat fatigue.
- Limit night-time driving due to decreased visibility and fatigue.
- Watch for children playing and cyclists, especially with school out.
- Always wear seatbelts, and ensure children are in appropriate car seats.
- Never drink and drive.
Plan Your Route: Check weather and road conditions before you leave. Allow ample time for travel.
We wish everyone safe and fun summer holidays!
