Respiratory Protection Fit Tests
Any mask that needs to be worn deserves a good fit to ensure its effectiveness. Any person required to wear a tight-fitting facepiece in the following situations should be fit-tested to ensure an effective respirator seal during the course of their normal day-to-day duties, or for emergency response activities.
Quantitative vs. Qualitative Fit Tests
- A qualitative fit test relies on the respirator wearer’s senses to determine if there is a gap in the seal of the respirator to the wearer’s face.
- A quantitative fit test uses a fit testing instrument(s) to provide quantitative, or numerical, measurements of the amount of face seal leakage present when a user wears a respirator.
Auspice Safety Inc. offers a flexible, efficient, and cost-effective mask-fit testing approach to support our clients’ specific face-fitted respirator mask requirements! We perform N95 mask fit testing, as well as half-face mask and full-face mask respirator fit testing.
Our Fit Testing sessions are based on Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations and meet the requirement for mask fit testing under the Canadian CSA-Z94 standard for the selection, use, and care of respirators.
Every 2 years, workers require a respirator mask fit test certification.
NOTE: Participants who have experienced anxiety, a heart condition, asthma, and respiratory conditions may not be able to be properly fit tested. They should consult a physician if they are concerned.
